Patience is one of the values that is slowly being forgotten in the modern age. In a world dominated by speed, accessibility, and endless choices, taking the time to wait and try to understand has become almost an ancient tradition. Everything is just a touch away now—food delivery, access to information, even communication with others. However, as this speed decreases our threshold for patience, superficial judgments take the place of deeper understanding.

The Value of Waiting in the Age of Speed

Why are we so impatient when waiting for someone to respond? Perhaps this is the effect of the culture of speed on us. Quick responses and rapid decisions have become the norm in our lives. However, building meaningful connections requires time. Understanding an emotion, evaluating a thought, and waiting and being patient are essential to this process.

The Lost Meanings of Hasty Steps

Every hasty step leaves behind a meaning that is missed and a feeling that is overlooked. Patience, however, opens a window for us to rediscover those meanings. Just as a flower needs the sun to bloom, a person needs time to understand. Time is the master of meaning; patience is the mirror that deepens the human soul.

The Conflict Between Digital Speed and Patience

In this context, the speed and convenience offered by modern communication tools have caused the erosion of patience and tolerance. The expectation of instant feedback on social media platforms and the constant state of being online have shortened the time needed for individuals to understand and develop empathy. The culture of fast consumption promotes superficial interactions, not deep connections. Isn't it time to reintroduce patience and the search for deeper meaning into our lives?
